Coaching others in medical English is something that grew naturally from two parts of my life - nursing and teaching - and the overlap between them.
Learning a second language is hard, using it in a healthcare setting is very challenging.
No textbook really prepares you for that.
I care about communication that actually works in real life.
Not memorized phrases.
Not perfect grammar.
Not sounding "academic."
Just clear, confident communication that helps you:
Sessions are structured, but relaxed.
You won't be sitting through long explanations or lectures.
We'll, spend most of our time actually practicing, speaking, working through scenarios and refining how you communicate in real time.
I'll correct you directly, but in a way that's supportive and easy to understand.
The goal is for you to leave each session knowing what to improve and how to do it.
Sessions are built around a simple structure: you speak, I guide.
Eventually you'll be speaking about 70% of the time, while I provide targeted feedback, corrections and support for the remaining 30%.
This balance is intentional.
Improvement comes from actively using the language - practicing, adjusting, and building confidence through real communication.
Outside of this work, I spend much of my time on our small family-run farm in Washington State.
I live here with my partner and our dogs, and a lot of our day-to-day life is centered around being outdoors, working on the land and creating a space that feels calm and welcoming.
I hold an active position in a hospital near Seattle in a float pool role, which allows me to stay current across a variety of clinical settings and environments.
